Have you ever wondered which dog breeds are the most popular in hunting activities? The reason why these dogs are used for hunting is that they are strong, very fast, top-notch eye sights and a very developed sense of smell. These dogs assist their owners by tracking or chasing the prey being hunted.

There are a variety of breeds used in hunting, but the Pointer dog was known for finding game, stopping, and pointing it out by use of its muzzle. The hunter would then know where to shoot his target and the hunter and Pointer dog would go about their day, happy with their bounty.

This is a very versatile gun dog that can be used as a pointer , upland dog, water dog or a retriever. The pointer dog is capable of chasing & killing even the most large and dangerous animals. The dog can be easily trained but it needs plenty of vigorous activities for its physical fitness. The Poodle is an athletic and agile dog, very popular for its water abilities. Hunters usually use them as water retrievers to fetch waterfowl out of water.

However, hiking is an ideal activity for this type of pointer dog breed and it can easily adapt to any type of terrain and climate. Hiking will give the dog a chance to get the exercise it needs and the outdoor stimulation it craves. It should be noted that simply taking a walk with the pointer dog is not a sufficient form of exercise, but while hiking daily is most of the time unsuitable, when given the chance the dog does enjoy the opportunity.
