The Pointer dogs comes from Great Britain where they were developed to hunt game. They are not water dogs and they like warm weather better than cold. They were first registered by the American Kennel Association in 1879.

The Pointer is a dog on the go. She has a lot of energy and needs plenty of exercise. Pointer dogs keeps herself clean and does not require much coat maintenance. Pointer dogs generally gets along well with other dogs and can be socialized early with other pets. She generally likes children, being a playful and happy dog. As a reminder, never leave a child unsupervised with a puppy or dog.

As the name suggests the German Pointer dogs, also known as the German Shorthaired Pointer comes from Germany. Even though researchers do not have many details about the origin of this breed, the all concluded that the German Pointer dogs is a mixed breed that developed in time from mixing breeds like the Spanish Pointer, the Foxhound, the Bloodhound and other hunting dogs and later the English Pointer.

The Pointer dogs has a short, smooth, dense coat. She should be brushed regularly and wiped down with a cloth to bring out her natural sheen. Brushing will help her maintain a clean and healthy coat, help you keep a closer eye on her health and strengthen your emotional bond with her.

The German Pointer dogs belongs to the European pointer dogs. There are records about the pointer dogs as well as the hunting dogs from Europe ever since the 13 th century. German Pointer dogs is very energetic, cheerful and friendly. They need to have regular exercise to vent their energy and do interesting things.

Today’ s German Pointer dogs is an elegant and versatile hunter both in the water and on land. He is a specialist in bird hunting and is admired for his great personality. In addition to hunting, the German Pointer dogs has been used in Scandinavia as a sled dog for the popular sport of Dogsled racing.
