History

The breed German Wire haired Pointer dog has been around for more than a century now, and its roots can be traced to Germany. Back in the 1800’s, dog breeders wanted a dog that showed flexibility during hunts. Whether with a party or with just one hunter, the ideal hunting dog can handle rough mountain landscapes, dense forests, and open fields. German Wire haired Pointer dog also makes for a very loyal companion, family pet, and watch dog.

Appearance

The German Wire haired Pointer dog is medium, muscular built, and it is best known for being resilient in all types of weather. Its facial features consists of a beard, whiskers, and forehead hair. Its wiry coat makes this breed resistant to wet weather and all sorts of rough conditions.

Temperament

The German Wire haired pointer dog is known for its affectionate nature. This dog is also highly intelligent and industrious. It can be easily taught but the owner must be consistent when teaching this dog tricks. But of course to teach some tricks, you need ability to train your wire haired pointer dog too.

Exercise

Walk or long walks is needed to strengthen their muscle, also do sprints to your wire haired pointer dog to make them agile and run faster.

Grooming

The main characteristic of this dog is its coat, so one has to keep a maintenance schedule. The German Wire haired pointer dog’s coat needs to be brushed two times each week, and one has to use a bristle brush. You also need to bath your wire haired pointer dog at least once a week to make sure that they are always clean.

Lifespan

The average lifespan of wire haired pointer dog is 10 until 14 years depend on how to care them.
