An aristocratic dog, the German Short hair is a tall dog who can hit 26 inches and 70 pounds at full growth, and has a nice build that’s neither overly stocky or lean. His color and markings give a striking appearance. He needs an active owner who has considerable dog experience.

The German Short Hair is a medium size breed of hunting dog known for its love of family life. They are also a very intelligent breed, so training usually comes naturally to them and make perfect gun dogs.

This German Short hair has a very thick undercoat making it ideal for hunting in cold weather. This breed is easy to groom and an average shedder. The German Short hair also an intelligent breed capable of performing nearly all gundog roles including hunting larger and more dangerous game.

The German Short hair is a highly active dog that will do best if given a job, such as hunting, tracking or acting as a watchdog. These field dogs have a very keen sense of smell and have been bred as all-purpose hunters and gun dogs. It is essential that the German Short hair is given plenty of exercise, preferably several times daily.
