Before i tell you about German pointer training, here i give you review about German pointer first. When a German Pointer won Best of Show two years ago at Westminster Kennel Club, German pointer breeders were worried that there would be a huge demand for puppies, and that once the pups began to grow, a huge influx of them would be sent to humane societies. Why? Because, German Pointer aren’t for everybody, they need a lot of training, but if you have a lot of patience and a true love of active dogs, you’ll find they are loyal and affectionate, and they will always give you more than you give them. This is why German pointer training is really important.

German pointer training maybe hard for some people, but for patient and skillful person, German pointer training isn’t as hard as you think. German pointer should be taught obedience training as soon as you take them home, beside you need to prepare a schedule for German pointer training. The earlier their training begins, the easier it will be to make them mind. Males especially are very head strong than bitch. Once they do it on their own, you can reward them with hugs, pats, or small treats. Teach them to walk by your side without pulling. You may need a choke or training collar for this. After their training, reward them with a large romp in a big fenced-in area, if possible. Because reward will tell him/her that this is good manner they have to do. German pointer training also should be doing everyday or at least once every two days to develop their ability.

Once you have basic obedience mastered, if your plan is to use them as hunting dogs, you will need to teach them to fetch. This is a game they love, and they can spend hours at a time fetching a ball, an old sock, or anything you want to throw for them. They need to learn to bring it back to you and drop it at your feet. Once they do, reward them profusely and tell them how good they are. This is another way to do German pointer training program. For more tips, just go to the forum or ask experienced people.
