The short hair pointer dog is one of the few dog breeds that can work in water and rough terrains alike. This is a very versatile gun dog that can be used as a pointer, upland dog, water dog or a retriever. The dog is capable of chasing & killing even the most large and dangerous animals. The dog can be easily trained but it needs plenty of vigorous activities for its physical fitness. The other side ,the Poodle is an athletic and agile dog, very popular for its water abilities. Hunters usually use them as water retrievers to fetch waterfowl out of water.

Short hair Pointer dog is a medium size breed of hunting dog known for its love of family life. It was bred to be a hunting dog but also a family dog, so it is usually easily trained as well as playful and friendly. They are also a very intelligent breed, so training usually comes naturally to them and make perfect gun dogs.

Since, this breed has been bred to be hunters so their instinct is to hunt for something. They are fun loving, gentle, friendly and obedient. They are bold and possess high intelligence too. They bond well with the family and are loyal, and attached. With proper and early training, they can be wonderful household pets.

Short hair pointer dogs are hunting dog that it will be aggressive when around people, but the opposite is in fact true. They make a great addition to any family, and especially get on well with children. However when they are young they can get over excited, so care should be taken around small children to ensure no accidents occur.

This dog points, sets, can hold the game. The breed also retrieves extremely well on a variety of terrain, including land, mud, snow, and water. Since the duties of a hunting dog are quite physical, this is a breed of dog that will require a lot of exercise and perhaps other activities that will provide outlets for its energy needs. Of course, many owners of Short hair pointers are not hunting dogs.

However, if you are an owner, but not a hunter, it would be important to find these alternative outlets such as obedience trialing, competition, and agility training could be considered.
