You have this cute little puppy and you want to start him on a good training program. Well crate training should be one of the first things you should do for him. This will help the other steps of his training to go much smoother and give your dog a solid foundation in his training. This also will establish you as the Alpha of the family so it is a good idea to start training when he is young if you can.

Before you decide whether crate training will benefit or cause harm to your puppy, you need to first find out what exactly is crate training for your puppy? Puppy crate training is a very useful method for housebreaking any puppy. Crate training plays an important part in your puppy’s development.

However, contrary to what many people wrongly understand, puppy crate training does not mean confining your puppy to a crate and locking him there for the whole day! Puppy crate training is an effective way to prevent destructive behavior, reduce separation anxiety, as well as an effective housebreaking tool that can be used to potty train a puppy.

Puppy crate training should be introduced gradually to your puppy. Start by placing small dog treats in the crate periodically throughout the day. Eventually your puppy will find these treats and this will reinforce positive associations with the crate training. You can also feed him inside the crate to further reinforce the associations.

Puppy crate training is a must for the development of your dog’s social and behavioral skills. Puppy crate training is not about punishing your dog by banishing them to their crate for hours on end. Puppies may resist crate training and their crate at first, but it will be worth it in the end. Crate training a puppy in a fun environment makes life easier for everyone evolved.

So take the time to learn how to teach your puppy what is expected of him. You won’t be sorry and the lifetime of enjoyment can’t be measured.
